The Seventh
Keeps Its Dead
The sea he left behind. The family he still sees in strangers. A ward that is home, and a boat that keeps moving after midnight.
THE STORY IN THE MUSIC
This album follows Charon through memory, work, grief, loyalty, and the life of the Seventh Ward. A small melody returns in different instruments, like a familiar face appearing in a new generation.
Brass and piano carry the family pieces. Dub bass and clipped chords follow the boat and the haven. The middle of the record grows louder: distorted strings for 7 Knives, a procession along Bayou Road, and a gothic dance track for The Crypt. The final movement brings that force back to the people he wants to protect.
Created for JP's Charon, the Samedi of the New Orleans V20 chronicle. All fourteen pieces are original instrumentals, composed and synthesized for this album.
